“The devil got ahold of me at the early age of 5.”

Imagine a young boy of 11 robbing a store at gunpoint – that’s just one of the many things Tony Cash did as a delinquent youth. Naturally, he also did time in juvenile detention centers. In fact, he would go on to become one of the top three worst juveniles in the state of Ohio. Between the ages of 11 and 49, he spent 36 years of his life incarcerated. He was bent on becoming the toughest man he could be, he was proud of that toughness and how the other inmates feared and respected him.

But outside of prison was a different story. When he was on the outside, he was not respected and he found himself doing drugs, being physically violent and embracing other demons. It got so bad Tony even though he would end up on death row, or he would commit suicide by cop.

He was about to implement the suicide-by-cop plan when he ran into an old friend from prison, an old friend who was now a Christian. That day God became an option in Tony’s life. He knew if his friend was now a Christian there must be something to it, they would have both killed for each other their bond was so deep. Based on that bond, Tony believed his friend and he found himself wanting that same glow and peace that his friend had.

He would pray and pray for that peace, but it was a long time in coming. When Tony one day put away his pride and cried out to the Lord the Lord showed up. He put a Bible in Tony’s hands and Tony’s life has never been the same.

On this episode of Inside These Walls, you’ll hear what it took for Tony to give his life to God, how he grew on his walk with Christ, and why we need to stay submitted to His will as Christians.

“I didn’t know what true respect was until I came to Christ.”
