How to Share Your Testimony, Your God Story
Are you struggling to share your testimony? Do you worry too much about how to evangelize someone you love and care about?
Are you afraid you’ll say something wrong or that you’ll miss some very important point?
Or maybe… you don’t think your testimony is worth sharing!!
I used to feel the exact same way. Then I discovered…
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
How to Share Your Testimony, Your God Story!!
My testimony has an impact on people, and I hear that every time I tell my story. My husband’s story has an impact on people, and I hear that every time I tell his story.
I am an overcomer; my husband is an overcomer, and so are you.
No matter the size of your transformation, as Christians… we all have a personal God story:
- What our life was like before our relationship with Christ,
- That moment we surrendered our life to Christ, and
- What our life is like now because of our relationship with Christ.
Everyone who comes to Christ is an overcomer and has a testimony worth sharing.
The sad truth…
If you don’t share your testimony, no one will hear it.
Bottom line…
You’re robbing someone of God’s blessing and the gift of eternal life.
So, I share this with you… STEP OUT BOLDLY!!
Tell your story to someone and let God do the rest.
It IS that simple.
There are all kinds of walks of life, tons of different stories and testimonies of how people came to have a relationship with Christ, but many have fallen. They don’t have the AFTER story. They don’t get plugged in and connect with other believers, so God can do His work through them. Instead, they remain in their brokenness, surrounded by the same things that keep them lost and broken.
But remember this…
It’s not your job to fix people.
Let me repeat that… it’s not your job to fix people.
I used to think I had to fix the brokenness of others, but that’s God’s job… it’s way too big of task for me.
However, it is your job as a Christian to share the love of God and the hope of eternal life.
It starts with sharing your testimony without fear.
Through your story of transformation, people will then look for the change in your life… what happened AFTER you found Christ. They want to hear THAT part, they want THAT journey… that God can do this for them too!!
They want to know what you did, how you did it, and if they take that step, how they can do it too.
It boils down to your walk with Christ, the steps you took AFTER you surrendered and decided to follow Jesus, that’s what makes people say, “Wow, I want that kind of transformation in my life!!”
It’s like the Hero’s Journey so often used in online marketing strategies, movies, and books to tell a story. It’s a testimony of transformation. The stories we love of a hero who goes on an adventure, and in a decisive crisis wins a victory, and then comes home changed or transformed.
That’s why we teach you HOW to share your testimony without fear, without struggling, without worrying about how to evangelize someone you love and care about, and without being afraid you’ll say something wrong or that you’ll miss some very important point!!
The story is written in Mark 5:1-20, about how Jesus restored a demon-possessed man, taught me that I didn’t have to know the Bible inside and out to share my testimony. I just had to share my testimony with others and be obedient to what Jesus commands us to do.
Jesus simply told the man in Mark 5:19…
“Go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”
Learning how to share your testimony in 3 minutes or less is like writing your elevator pitch for what you do in your business. Nail that and you get tons of clients, customers, or buyers.
It’s the same with your testimony. Deliver a valuable message to someone who desperately needs to hear of the unfailing love of Christ, and you can, and will, make an impact on someone’s life for eternity.
We are all called to OBEY the Great Commission, to “GO… MAKE DISCIPLES”. You can start by sharing your testimony with someone, your God story of transformation.
Be confident, and share your testimony freely, openly, and as often as possible.
Feel free to share your testimony in the comments. You could encourage someone today.
