Tony’s anger and hatred grew with each passing year. “I blamed and hated the world,” Tony recalled. “I saw a lot of injustice in the criminal justice system, which justified my actions and fueled my rage.” His reputation as someone to be feared became his identity. “I was respected because I could hurt people,” Tony explained. However, this respect came at a great personal cost, as his anger spiraled out of control.
In 2000, while back in jail for a parole violation, Tony reached a breaking point. He planned to end his life by provoking a guard into killing him. But at that moment, something profound happened. “I looked up in the shower, and it was as if God was looking at me saying, ‘Don’t.’ My response was, ‘Then DO something because I can’t.’ Right after, someone offered me a Bible,” Tony remembered.
Tony began studying the Bible and praying, though he still struggled with his anger. Upon his release in 2002, he attempted to live a better life but kept falling back into crime. It wasn’t until 2010, during a 21-year sentence, that Tony fully surrendered to God. “God just let my mind flash back to that day in the shower,” Tony said. “I looked up and said, ‘I don’t care what You take from me, I’m not letting You go.’”
This commitment marked a turning point. Tony let go of his anger and held on to Christ, experiencing a profound transformation. He was paroled in January 2017 and has since dedicated his life to ministry. Tony married that year, and he and his wife now lead a full-time ministry for the incarcerated.

Tony’s story is one of redemption and the power of God’s grace. From a life marked by violence and hatred, Tony now passionately leads others to Christ. “If you seek Him with everything you’ve got, if you surrender everything to Him, there is freedom in Christ,” Tony said. “I was lost in darkness and hate. I met Christ, and He set me free.”
