Expanding Our Reach
As mentioned in our Video Newsletter (The Great Commission, Kevin Bacon, and you), Jesus knew and taught that if we want to expand our reach it wasn’t about geography covered but by the reach of our relationships and spreading the Gospel by connecting with more communities, whether that community was a segment of people or was a city itself. No matter where a person is, or what they’re situation is, he or she is considered lost if they do not know God – if they have not accepted the life-saving message of Christ.
Our ministry began as serving the lost and the broken in the prison system.
What we know and have seen is that those who we reach in prison can expand our reach by connecting with their fellow inmates. Those incarcerated have more credibility with other inmates because they experience the same things in prison. We refer to this as working within your sphere of influence.
They CAN reach non-believers because of the common denominator they share – locked up to pay their debt to society for crimes committed. To us, this is a perfect environment to share how Jesus has already paid their debt for humanity’s crimes (sin) against God, how they can have freedom even while behind bars.
Together, we can make a difference for eternity, but we must continue to walk with them outside the prison walls too. This is why we are praying and asking God to provide missions housing.
Relationships. Spheres of Influence.
Both are just fancy ways of saying that each of us has a role in expanding God’s Eternal Kingdom if we commit to working – to planting seeds – in the mission field.
If the groups we are working with commit to implementing the fruitful practices of the 3Thirds Discipleship Training in their spheres of influence, it will open doors all over this city that can create a ripple effect that can help reach those we cannot. That ripple effect can spread to surrounding communities, reach other states, and go globally. And if we all do our part by supporting the movement prayerfully, financially, and by volunteering, we can see The Great Commission fulfilled in our lifetime.
Remember, we are saved by Jesus Christ because 12 men in sandals set about creating relationships one person, one group, or one community at a time. We are their legacy. We have the opportunity to continue their legacy while creating our own.
