We Were All in Awe, and We Knew it Was God!
In our last newsletter, we shared the story of Patrick and Nina. Patrick and Nina have been through life’s ups and downs for 17 years. They have five children together but have never been married. Patrick came to Christ through our prison ministry while he was incarcerated. Nina then came to Christ by seeing God work in and through Patrick. Shortly thereafter, they decided it was time they put God’s seal on their relationship and family and begin a new Christ-centered life together. Patrick was released from incarceration on Father’s Day, June 16, 2019. They were married on June 17, 2019, at Turkey Run Park in Louisville.
Thunderstorms and floods were everywhere for several days leading up to the wedding and it seemed as though the ceremony would get rained out. We did have a small covered area reserved, but the walk to that area was long. We prayed God would lift the rain from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, giving us just enough time for the outdoor wedding.
God answered our prayers and the rain stopped in plenty of time for the wedding. In fact, the sun suddenly appeared and a cool breeze filled the air. The wedding was beautiful and 35 people who are part of our 3Thirds Discipleship Groups came to support the bride and groom and be witnesses to their commitment to one another as husband and wife under God.
This was another blessing from God as only a handful of the people who attended actually knew Patrick and Nina. The rest of the attendees did not know the couple but wanted to show their love and support and to let the couple know they’re not alone. Truly a day full of God’s blessings.
Now, you might say the fortuitous break in the weather was a lucky break, a coincidence. But within minutes of us walking to and getting in our cars after the ceremony, the clouds moved back in and God brought down heavy rain.
We were all in awe, and we knew it was GOD!!
He left no doubt that He was there and had blessed the ceremony and all of us who attended. What an amazing God we have!
Patrick and Nina have both been active participants in our 3Thirds Discipleship Groups for several months now, and we have connected them to another group back in their hometown in Ohio. They both have incredible testimonies of what God has done in their lives, and we are excited to see how He uses them to reach the world for Christ!
